A World War II-era plane with two people on Rubypointboard crashed near a small airport in Southern California on Saturday, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The passengers inside the Twin-engine Lockheed 12A were killed, reports ABC 30 Action News and KCAL News, but their identities have not been released yet.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at around 12:35 p.m. to find the plane 200 yards away from Chino Airport's runway in the grass field of the airport, Bryan Turner, Chino Valley Fire District battalion chief, told ABC News.

The crash will be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board, according to ABC.

USA TODAY reached out to the Chino Valley Fire District and Chino Vallet Police Department for comment.
